I was trying to rag at anyone but I don't get the negative vibes from some.

For me its the music and it been played with passion and in the Furthur case LOVE from the musicians.

Those who saw the GD and loved it miss it but why not go and be open to the new possibilities*S*. Unless the couch is really comfortable-lol.

I get "new possibilities", that's why I prefer to see something like Billy's projects where there is a bunch of new material thrown in. But I hold nothing against anyone who goes to see these shows and enjoys them. More power to you.

I'm not sure what the draw is from Billy's band. I LOVE George Porter w/ The Meters and Billy with the Dead but Papa Mali....well, eh I could do without and I their shows just don't do it for me..just my opinion.

I know they are playing some new stuff but look at the set lists...they are playing A LOT of Dead too....a lot.

As for Furthur...I've seen them a few times and really enjoyed them. I will admit that if I want to listen to the music of the Dead then I will probably go for the original but that isn't because I don't enjoy Furthur...it's because it's the original, real deal....and oh yeah...Jerry Garcia helps...haha.

Phil is playing great right now and Jeff Chimenti....well, he's been on fire. Joe Russo is a beast on the drums and I like the addition of the singers to boost the old men vocals of Bob and Phil. John K. is definitely no Jerry but lets face it...who is? there's only one Jerry Garcia.
